The following is a statement of what Woodlawn Baptist Church believes. This is what the world's most respected Bible scholars understand to be God's desire for His children to know and understand about Him. It does not water down the Word, it makes no compromises.  It is not the easy path, it is not politically correct, it is not tolerant of that which God despises. It is simply a deliberate attempt to follow the clearest possible, common-sense interpretation of God's Word, the Holy Bible.   1.   We   believe   in   the   divine   inspiration   and   authority   of   the   Scriptures.   By   this   is   meant   a   miraculous   guidance   of   the   Holy   Spirit   in   their original   writing,   extending   to   all   parts   of   the   Scriptures   equally,   applying   even   to   the   choice   of   words,   so   that   the   result   is   the   very   Word   of God,   the   only   infallible   rule   of   faith   and   practice.   Moreover,   it   is   our   conviction   that   God   has   exercised   such   singular   care   and   providence through   the   ages   in   preserving   the   written   Word,   that   the   Scriptures   as   we   now   have   them   are   in   every   essential   particular   as   originally given and contain all things necessary to salvation. 2. We   believe   in   one   God   revealed   as   eternally   existing   in three   equal   persons, the   Father, the   Son   and the   Holy   Spirit. We   believe   in the   deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Spirit as a divine Person, a personality distinct from the Father and the Son. 3.   We   believe   that   God   created   an   innumerable   host   of   angels,   some   of   whom   followed   the   lead   of   Lucifer,   now   called   Satan,   in   rebelling against   God,   thereby   bringing   sin   into   the   universe.   We   believe   in   Satan's   complete   defeat   by   the   Lord   Jesus   Christ   through   His   precious shed blood on the cross and His glorious resurrection from the grave. 4.   We   believe   that   man   was   created   in   the   image   of   God,   that   he   sinned   and   thereby   incurred   not   only   physical   death   but   also   that   spiritual death   which   is   separation   from   God;   and   that   all   human   beings   are   born   with   a   sinful   nature   and,   in   the   case   of   those   who   reach   moral responsibility,   become   sinners   in   thought,   word   and   deed.   And   with   such   a   nature,   they   are   incapable   of   producing   anything   acceptable   to God.

For many years, Woodlawn Baptist Church has run buses and vans into the community reaching families with the Gospel and giving them a way to attend church.  We also have an excellent children’s ministry.  Our pastor William Tyson is a former “bus kid”, and knows how important church attendance and learning God’s plan and will in the life of any individual is. Matthew 19:14 says, “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” In our Church, children are very special! We strive for the children who ride the “Blue Bus” to have a fun time. We usually give out candy during Sunday School. We sing, play games and give out prizes. We always want the children to see God’s love in us, and help them know that they are very special to Him.
