truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

Location: Main Auditorium
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Description
The Adult Sunday School class is held in the main auditorium of the church every Sunday morning at 10:00am. It is taught by Pastor
William Tyson and is an exciting time to study and learn Gods Word. Refreshments are served and all are welcome to attend this
class.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the Word of Truth." This is our purpose. We must diligently study God’s Word so we rightly discern what is being taught. We
are then to take what we learn to a lost and dying World.
Vision
God's Word is rich with treasures for the child of God. It is the goal of this class to examine every Word, uncover its truths and
obey its commands. We have the privilege of opening the Word of Almighty God every Sunday and this truth is taken seriously.
It is the vision of this class to build Disciples of Christ and fishers of men. It is our desire to see this class produce members who
develop a strong foundation in the Word of God and are able to become workers, soul winners and God-fearing people.
Class: Life Builders
Class Verse: "…The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build…" Nehemiah 2:20
Teacher: Bill Stratton & JoAnne Stratton
Location: Classroom #4
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Vision
The vision for our class is to see Christian men and women develop and grow in their walk with Christ, helping them to let their
"light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

SPANISH CLASS
Class: Spanish - Agua Viva (Living Water)
Teacher: Bob Ritchey (Interpreted by Marisela Granville)
Location: Basement
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Mission Statement:
As one of the Outreach Ministries of Woodlawn Baptist Church, the Spanish Ministry is another extension to try to reach people
with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Ron Fenwick always had a heart for the growing Hispanic community. Pastor Fenwick taught
himself enough Spanish to be able to witness to non-English speaking Hispanics. He spent many hours knocking on doors through
many of the Hispanic communities, sharing the Gospel with them. Pastor Fenwick for many years had a great desire to start a
Spanish ministry to minister to Hispanics. The van and bus ministries were already reaching many of the children in these areas
and bringing them in, but there wasn't anything for the parents. In 2003, Pastor Fenwick talked to Bob Ritchey and asked him to
start a Spanish class. We already had 3 people faithfully coming to church that spoke a little English, and tried to understand the
preaching. They had been saved and had a hunger to hear the preaching and be around God's people. In August of 2003, Bob
Ritchey along with Cynthia Pape as translator, started the Spanish Ministry. That October, the class had a big-day with an
attendance of 45! 10 people received Christ as their Saviour and 7 individuals got baptized shortly after. God's hand was on the
Spanish class and within the first year the class outgrew 3 different classrooms.
The sole purpose of this ministry is simply to follow the great commission, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you;" Matt. 28:19-20. It has been our heart's desire to reach out to the Spanish community, and God has richly blessed. We have seen
many families reached with the gospel, and seen God's healing hand upon many families. We have had the privilege of marrying 7
couples in our church, and have been able to share God's goodness with many of these families. We have been able to see how the
healing power of God's Word has transformed the lives of individuals in amazing ways! It has been an exciting ministry to be a part
of, and we are thankful to have a part in it. We are looking forward to all that God still has for this ministry.
JUNIOR BOYS
Class: Junior Boys
Class Verse: "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: Proverbs 3:1
Teachers: Josh Thomas, Sean Tyson
Location: Classroom 1 (Sunday School Building)
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Vision
Our vision is to see our students grow to become men of strong, godly character who are actively involved in serving the Lord in
some capacity.
Purpose
The purposes of our class include, but are not limited to:
- The Salvation of our class members
- The discipleship of those in our class
- To reinforce what our Pastor preaches
- To combat the world's philosophy of living
- To interpret life through the filter of God's Word
- The effective modeling of successful Christian living
- To mentor our students as they grow in their Christian life
- To support mothers and fathers in raising Christian young men
- To provide coaching and counseling to navigate the challenges of life
- To establish strong Biblical principles that will be the cornerstone for life's foundation
Description
One of our primary goals is to teach God's Word to our students and allow them to have fun at the same time. Too many boys
either never start going to church or, if they do start, stop going because they find Sunday School to be boring. While we will
never lose sight of our prime directive (the salvation and discipleship of our students), we play games, give away prizes, and do
what we can to allow those who attend the Junior Boys Class to realize that going to church and serving the Lord are not dull
endeavors (Psalm 68:3).
In addition to having a time of teaching, some of our class activities include:
- The weekly memorization of Bible verses
- Reviewing our "Man-in-Demand" series of desired behavioral principles, which we use to develop courteous, polite, Christian
gentlemen
- Using our "Gratitude Attitude" series, which is designed to instill an attitude of thankfulness to the Lord and others through the
acknowledgement of what we have been given and what others have done for us
- Teaching our "JBC Vocabulary" list to review words in the Bible that may be new to our students; our purpose is to enhance their
understanding of God's Word as they read it
- Using our "WWJD?" series of situations where we identify a decision that has to be made and we ask, "What Would Jesus Do?" By
discovering what our Lord would do, we can identify, prescribe, and encourage Christ-like behavior
- Discussing newspaper stories of criminal activity in our "Christians/Character/Crime" series; through this, we teach critical
thinking to our students so that they can see what mistakes others make in their lives and how living a life that is pleasing to the
Lord is preferable
- Talking about our "Valuable Virtues" series, where we use the Bible to identify and discuss certain virtues that, when employed,
will please and honor the Lord
- Passing out tracts; through this activity, we strive to fulfill the
Great Commission
- Recognizing and giving prizes to students who memorize Bible verses, those who bring their Bible to Sunday School, and those
who wear a tie to church
BABY NURSERY
Baby Nursery
Age Range: Birth to 24 months old
Workers: Donna Fridell & scheduled ladies
Location: Room #2
Schedule: Available for all services
Everything we do at Woodlawn Baptist Church is aimed at one goal - the saving of souls. Yes, our nurseries can have a big part in
the reaching of that goal. Babies and toddlers can be a great distraction. Even when they are quiet, they can still keep the people
around them occupied with cute gestures and smiles. We want people in the congregation to be able to hear God's Word without
distraction. Babies are more comfortable in their own place. They rest better, can be fed and changed, and can even make their
own kind of noise without causing any distractions. Our nursery is a place with freedom for them to move or jabber aloud in their
own environment.
We believe going to church is a family affair, so we have tried to ensure that our nurseries are clean, comfortable, and staffed by
quality workers. You can feel free to leave your baby in our nursery while you relax and enjoy the church services of Woodlawn
Baptist Church.
TODDLERS
Class: Toddlers
Teachers: Vicki Crawford
Location: Classroom #3
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Introduction
Join us every Sunday morning for a fun time learning about the Bible. We do many different things with the children each morning
for the 2 hours we are together.
Activity Sheets
This age group likes to color. Sometimes the coloring page is coordinated with the story for that Sunday. The current season or
holiday also provides many opportunities for coloring activities.
Bible Story or Lesson
We have a Bible story or lesson that is geared to this young age. We use many visuals and use age appropriate language so the
children can gain an understanding of the Bible. Our goal is to have a good time while learning about the Bible, God, and Jesus
Birthdays
We like to celebrate our children's birthdays. Birthdays are very important and we want each child to feel important. Every child is
important to the Lord.
Information
Class age is from k-3 through kindergarten-5. We have between 2 and 3 helpers for each service.
Singing
A Sunday is complete only after we have sung some of the time honored favorites like the Wheels on the Bus Go Round and
Round, or Deep and Wide. We usually sing Jesus Loves Me. This is the part of Sunday morning many children remember through
out the week.
Snack Time
We always have some type of snack. The favorite snack is the classic cookies and juice. We have been known to have chips and
soda from time to time to add some variety.
Class: Teen Boys - Walk the Walk
Class Verse: "That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous." Proverbs 2:20
Teacher: Tom Fenwick
Location: Classroom 5 (Sunday School Building)
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Vision
The teen boys "Walk the Walk" class is a class where our main objective is developing young men who are genuine and who
attempt to walk the Christian walk everyday. Many people in America nowadays call themselves Christians, yet far too often
their lives show no characteristics that distinguish them from unsaved people. Many Christian teenage boys are no exception.
Yet, according to the Bible this is not the way it should be. The Bible tells us that when a person gets saved their lives are
completely transformed (II Cor. 5:17), and we believe that the rest of our lives as Christians should demonstrate that fact. Hence,
it is obvious that many people in "Christianity" today can talk the talk, but very few seem to be walking the walk.
We attempt to develop these young men into genuine Christians by two primary methods. The first is something that has existed
for over 3500 years and it is guaranteed to change a young man's life if he is willing to listen to it and obey it (Psalm 119:9). This
first method is none other than the Word of God. Our whole class is built around the Word of God. We want the young men to
read it, meditate on it, understand it, and most importantly, live it. The teacher's main emphasis every week is the preaching of
the Word of God. We want the preaching to be biblically precise, passionate, and powerful. In addition, our class conducts
monthly reviews to reinforce the truths learned as well as to see how we are attempting to live out these principles in our daily
lives.
Our second method is that of personal discipleship. In this, we attempt to follow Christ's example of taking a small group of
people and training them; so that they will be incorporated into the task of fulfilling the great commission as Christ has
commanded all Christians to do (Mt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15). It is our belief that in obeying Christ, a young man will find true joy and
happiness (Gal. 5:22-23) that no worldly pleasure can compare to. Thus, our goal in discipleship is for our teachers to lead these
young men step by step in their walks with the Lord, so that the students will see that those who trust God wholly will find God
wholly true.
We believe that by using these two primary methods we will develop young men that will live lives that are Christ-like. And in so
doing, will impact this world both by example as well as by preaching the gospel, so that sinners will be converted and God will
be glorified (Mt. 5:16). This is a little bit of what the teen boys "Walk the Walk" class is all about. We hope you will come this Sunday
and check it out for yourself. Related ministries and activities to this class:
* Thursday soul-winning
* Friday youth activities
* Annual youth conference (in June)

Woodlawn Baptist Church has a dedicated ministry for Junior Girls of the church. The class consists of girls grades 1-6. This is an
important timein their lives and we are diligent about teaching the truths of the Word of God and preparing them for the
challenges that lie ahead in their lives. There are many ladies who work with the girls every Sunday. The class has many junior
helpers that are faithfully serving to prepare them for ministry work as they grow older.
Vision
The vision of any ministry should be to bring honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Junior Girls class is no
exception to this. Every decision that is made, every activity that is scheduled and every lesson that is taught is designed to

TEEN GIRLS
Class: Teen Girls
Teacher: Angela Sidler
Location: Classroom #6
Schedule: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Description
Our goal is for each student to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and deepens her relationship with Christ, by
learning and understanding God's Word. We want to teach and train the teen girls to live their lives holy and acceptable unto
God (Romans 12:1-2), with high moral standards and clean godly living (1 Timothy 4:7-8).
We desire that each young lady lets Jesus direct her path of life (Proverbs 3:5-6); while being a servant to others and Him.
(Proverbs 31:20 and Matthew 25:21)
